Homeschool Program

Registration now open!

The THYT Homeschool Program runs September-June in 6-week installments. Participants, ages 9-17, meet once per week on either Tuesday or Thursday at the Centennial Stage, located at the Scott Block Theatre in Red Deer. 

​

Please note, a minimum of 7-participants is required per installment in order for it to run. Participants will be notified two-weeks in advance if the program is needing to be cancelled due to lack of participation.

Homeschool Programming
February 4th/6th to March 11th/13th

Registration fees for each installment come to $175.00. This will include 6-weeks of theatre instruction (12-hours). If your youth signs up for more than one-installment each season, they will receive a $25.00 discount per installment. Each program is led by a trained theatre industry professional. Families with more than one kid/teen in programming will receive a $25.00 discount per kid/youth participating.

Intro to body, voice, and presence

The perfect way to introduce your youth to theatre. Participants will work with Emily to explore the body, voice, and presence of an actor.

A presentation for friends and family will occur on March 11.

Immersive Theatre Creation

Participants, ages 11-12, will explore the Immersive Theatre Style, where the audience is plunged into the world of the play in a full 360° experience. A presentation for friends and family will occur on March 11.

Short Form Improv

Participants, ages 13-17, will explore improv with Bull Skit co-founder, Jenna Goldade. Participants will learn short form improv games. A presentation for friends and family will occur on March 13.

Scene Work 101

Participants, ages 13-17, will explore scenework as they learn how to approach a script as an actor. Participants will learn verbing, creating unit and super objectives, and character work. A presentation for friends and family will occur on March 13.

1 / Directing 101 (Ages 13-17)

Participants will work with Albertus Koett as they learn how to breakdown a script, create a vision, and how to manage rehearsals in a supportive/collaborative way. Participants will serve as both directors and actors during this installement. Short scenes will be presented to families April 24. â€‹

2 / Musical Theatre (Ages 11-12)

March 18 and 25

April 1, 8, 15 and 22, 2025

From 2:00-4:00

Cost: $175.00 ($25.00 off if enrolled in more than one installment)

Participants will work with Erin Whalen-Whelton to create a short musical theatre scene. A presentation will occur for families and friends on April 22. 

3 / Discovering Your Character (Ages 9-12)

March 18 and 25

April 1, 8, 15 and 22, 2025

From 12:00-2:00

Cost: $175.00 ($25.00 off if enrolled in more than one installment)

Participants will work with work with Emily Promise Allison on creating fun and engaging character. A presentation will occur on April 22 for friends and family. 

4 / Improv Character Work (Ages 13-17)

March 20 and 27

April 3, 10, 17 and 24, 2025

From 12:00-2:00

Cost: $175.00 ($25.00 off if enrolled in more than one installment)

Participants will work with Jenna Goldade on character work in improvisation. A short presentation will occur on April 24 for friends and family.
